This notice is to advise that Cape York Land Council (CYLC) will convene an information meeting on behalf of the Cape York United #1 (CYU#1) Claim Applicant to provide information to the Guugu Yimidhirr People in relation to Indigenous land use agreements (ILUAs) proposed to be negotiated in relation to certain lots of land within the Cooktown area. This information meeting will take place immediately after the conclusion of the s.87A authorisation meeting (please refer to the authorisation meeting notice enclosed with this notice).

Time: 2:30pm to 3:30pm
Venue: Cooktown Events Centre, 3 May Street, Cooktown
PURPOSE OF INFORMATION MEETING
The Cook Shire Council and the State of Queensland are proposing to negotiate separate tenure resolution ILUAs with the Guugu Yimidhirr People in relation to certain lots in Cooktown as shown in the map. An ILUA is a voluntary agreement between a native title group and other parties (such as Local and State Governments) about land.
The purpose of this information meeting is to:
- provide information and an update about the proposed ILUAs, the negotiation process and next steps;
- discuss the ILUAs and ask questions; and
- nominate appropriate persons to form an ILUA negotiation team to be ratified at a further meeting of the Guugu Yimidhirr People.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND?
All Guugu Yimidhirr People as described in the s.87A authorisation meeting notice are invited and eligible to attend the information meeting. Please refer to the s.87A authorisation meeting notice enclosed with this notice for the description of the Guugu Yimidhirr People.
