NOTICE OF CONSULTATION
Section 24MD – Ventia – Site 267
Cape York United Number 1 Claim (QC2014/008)
On 27 April 2026, Ventia Pty Ltd issued a notification under section 24MD(6A) of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth), stating that it proposed to undertake maintenance work to repair and rebury the existing exposed conduit by excavating along the existing trench line to bury the conduit at the correct depth.
This notice is to advise that Cape York Land Council (CYLC) will facilitate a consultation for those people who hold or may hold Native Title rights and interests within area subject to the proposed works, as shown on the map below.

Venue: River of Gold Motel, Cnr. Hope & Walker Street, Cooktown QLD 4895

Purpose of this meeting:
The purpose of this meeting is for CYLC to provide information and take instructions in relation to:
- the remediation works proposed;
- cultural heritage that may be affected;
- options available to progress this matter.

Travel Attendance
CYLC has limited funding available for travel assistance to this meeting. CYLC may be able to provide some assistance, for example fuel reimbursement. CYLC will prioritise assisting elders and family representatives and will consider how limited funding can be allocated to support a broad representation of the affected Native Title Holders.
