NOTICE OF CONSULTATION
REPAIR WORKS TO MULLIGAN HIGHWAY AND SHIPTON’S FLAT ROAD
Cape York United #1 Native Title Claim (QUD673/2014)
On 25 July 2025, the Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) issued a notification to the Registered Native Title Claimant of the Cape York United Number 1 Native Title Claim (QUD673/2014) (CYU#1 Claim) identifying its proposal to undertake repair works at West Normanby Bridge (as shown on the map below in red).
This notice is to advise that Cape York Land Council (CYLC) will facilitate a meeting with those people who hold or may hold Native Title rights and interests within the CYU#1 Claim area subject to the repair works proposed by DTMR.
Details of the meeting are as follows:

Date: Monday 29 September 2025
When: 1:00pm – 2:00pm
Venue*: Jabalbina Office Wujal Wujal, 121 Kotzur Street, Wujal Wujal QLD 4895
*Video conference facilities will be available upon request.
Purpose of this meeting:
The purpose of this meeting is for CYLC’s lawyer assisting the Registered Native Title Claimant of the CYU#1 Claim to provide information and seek instructions in relation to:
- the nature of the repair works proposed by DTMR;
- cultural heritage that may be affected with the area;
- options available to progress the matter under the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003 (Qld).

Travel Attendance
CYLC has limited funding available for travel assistance to this meeting. CYLC may be able to provide some assistance, for example fuel reimbursement. CYLC will prioritise assisting elders and family representatives and will consider how limited funding can be allocated to support a broad representation of the affected Native Title Holders.
