On 10 May 2023, the State of Queensland issued a notification under s.29(7) of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) (NTA) identifying Exploration Permits for Minerals (EPMs) 28395 and 28490 as acts attracting the Expedited Procedure.
This notice is to advise that Cape York Land Council (CYLC) will be facilitating a decision-making meeting for those Native Title Holders who hold rights and interests in the area of EPMs 28395 and 28490 (as shown on the map below) within the Ut-Alkar AC RNTBC area. At this meeting, CYLC will table the proposed Cultural Heritage Protection Agreement (CHPA) for this matter and seek the affected Native Title Holders’ decision on the proposed terms of the CHPA.

Purpose of this meeting
The terms of the negotiated CHPA will be tabled at this meeting by CYLC for the affected Native Title Holders consideration, comment, review and if appropriate, approval.
