This notice is to advise that the Cape York Land Council (CYLC) will convene a meeting on behalf of the Cape York United #1 (CYU#1) Claim Applicant on Thursday 22 May 2025 in Mareeba for all members of the Western Yalanji Native Title Group in relation to the relevant part of the CYU#1 Claim area which is shown on the map below and shaded in pink.

What is the Purpose of this Meeting?
The purpose of this meeting is to:
- Consider and make a decision in relation to the proposed list of apical ancestors which make up the group description for the Western Yalanji Native Title Group; and
- Provide an update on the CYU#1 Claim and to discuss next steps required to progress towards a determination of native title.
As this is an important decision-making meeting, all members of the Western Yalanji Native Title Group to attend. The legal representatives of the CYU#1 Applicant will take instructions on the group description for Western Yalanji, by way of resolution. In accordance with the applicable Federal Court timetable, the group and boundary descriptions must be decided by Western Yalanji People and provided to the State by 4 July 2025 for final agreement.
