Ross on behalf of the Cape York United #1 Claim Group v State of Queensland (No 21) (Possum determination) [2023] FCA 1316 (QUD 673 of 2014)
This notice is to advise that Cape York Land Council (CYLC) will facilitate a meeting with the Possum native title group regarding the area subject to the proposed grant of Exploration Permit for Minerals (EPM) 28758 to Ark Mines Ltd (as shown on the map below in blue).
On 28 August 2024, the State of Queensland issued a notification under section 29(7) of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) (NTA) identifying that proposed EPM 28758 is an act attracting the expedited procedure.
The Explorer has been invited to attend this meeting to provide an overview of its project.

Purpose of this meeting
The purpose of this meeting is for CYLC to provide information and seek instructions in relation to:
- the expedited procedure statement attached to the notification of EPMs 28758;
- cultural heritage that may be affected within the EPM area;
- options available to progress this matter under the NTA and the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003 (Qld); and
- meet Ark Mines Ltd to discuss its project and answer questions the Native Title Party may have in relation to EPM 28758.
