This notice is to advise that the Applicant in the Cape York United #1 (CYU#1) Claim will convene a meeting on Monday 18 November 2024 in Mareeba for all members of the Western Yalanji Native Title Group in relation to the area shown on the map below within the Cape York United #1 Claim (which is shown within the pink area).

Who is invited to attend the meeting?
All members of the Western Yalanji Native Title Group are invited to attend the meeting.
Purpose of Meeting
The purpose of this meeting is to:
- confirm the boundary of the Western Yalanji Native Title Group with the Eastern Kuku Yalanji Native Title Group as negotiated by the Eastern Kuku Yalanji nominated representatives on 1 August 2024;
- consider the proposed list of apical ancestors which make up the group description for the Western Yalanji Native Title Group; and
- provide an update on the CYU#1 Claim and to discuss next steps required to progress towards a determination of native title.
This is an important decision-making meeting and we encourage all Western Yalanji People to attend. The legal representatives of the CYU#1 Applicant will take instructions on the boundary descriptions for Western Yalanji by way of resolution. In accordance with the applicable Federal Court timetable, the group and boundary descriptions must be decided by Western Yalanji and provided to the State by 14 February 2025.
