This notice is to advise that Ipima Ikaya Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (ICN 8114) (IIAC), assisted by Cape York Land Council (CYLC), will hold a decision-making meeting on Wednesday 2 October 2024 in Bamaga for all members of the Gudang Yadhaykenu Native Title Group about: (a) the approved determination of native title made by the Federal Court in Woosup on behalf of the Northern Cape York Group #1 v State of Queensland (No 3) [2014] FCA 1148 (NCY #1 Determination); (b) the approved determination of native title made by the Federal Court in Anderson on behalf of the Northern Cape York #3 Native Title Claim Group v State of Queensland [2017] FCA 830 (NCY #3 Determination); and (c) the areas in the Endeavour Strait and for which native title has not yet been determined that are part of the Northern Peninsula Sea Claim (QUD 114/2017) (NP Sea Claim) and North Eastern Peninsula Sea Claim (QUD 115/2017) (NEP Sea Claim) as shown on the map below (Disputed Area). The meeting will be held as follows:
Date: Wednesday, 2 October 2024

IIAC as the prescribed body corporate for the NCY #1 Determination and the NCY #3 Determination, and the CYLC lawyer and consultant assisting the Applicants in each of the NP Sea Claim and NEP Sea Claim will consult with the Gudang Yadhaykenu Native Title Group and if appropriate ask the group to make resolutions about the following matters:

  1. The next steps in relation to the Disputed Area in the NP Sea Claim and the NEP Sea Claim, including whether a new claim on behalf of the Gudang Yadhaykenu Native Title Group over the whole of the Disputed Area should be authorised so the dispute in that area with Ankamuthi may be determined in Court as soon as possible.
  2. A proposed boundary resolution process for the Gudang Yadhaykenu Native Title Group to resolve the group’s boundaries with neighbouring native title groups (being Atambaya and Ankamuthi Peoples) within the NCY #1 Determination Area and the NCY #3 Determination Area, including resolutions about the persons who hold cultural authority to speak for boundary areas and should represent Gudang Yadhaykenu in the process.
