EPM 28569 – FMG Resources Pty Ltd
Cape York United #1 Native Title Claim (QUD673/2014)
This notice is to advise that Cape York Land Council (CYLC) will facilitate a meeting with people who hold or may hold Native Title rights and interests within the Cape York United #1 Claim Area (CYU#1 Claim) in the proposed Exploration Permit for Minerals (EPM) 28569 (as shown on the map below). On 6 December 2023, the Department of Resources issued a notification under section 29(7) of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) (NTA) identifying that EPM 28569 is an act that attracts the expedited procedure. On 28 March 2024, the Native Title Party instructed the legal representative of the Applicant in the CYU#1 Claim to object to the expedited statement. This is the second consultation meeting facilitated by CYLC with people who may hold Native Title rights and interests in the proposed EPM area.

Purpose of this meeting:
The purpose of this meeting is for CYLC to provide information and seek instructions in relation to:
- the expedited procedure statement under the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) attached to the notification of EPM 28569;
- cultural heritage that may be affected within the EPM area; and
- options available to progress this matter under the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) and the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003 (Qld).

Travel Assistance
CYLC has limited funding available for travel assistance to this meeting. CYLC may be able to provide some assistance, for example fuel reimbursement. CYLC will prioritise assisting elders and family representatives and will consider how limited funding can be allocated to support a broad representation of the descendants of all apical ancestors at the meeting.
