AMENDED NOTICE OF CONSULTATION MEETING FOR ATAMBAYA NATIVE TITLE GROUP

This notice is to advise that Ipima Ikaya Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (ICN 8114) (IIAC) and Cape York Land Council (CYLC) will hold a consultation meeting on Monday 8 July 2024 in Injinoo for all members of the Atambaya Native Title Group about: (a) the approved determination of native title made by the Federal Court in Woosup on behalf of the Northern Cape York Group #1 v State of Queensland (No 3) [2014] FCA 1148 (NCY #1 Determination); and (b) the approved determination of native title made by the Federal Court in Anderson on behalf of the Northern Cape York #3 Native Title Claim Group v State of Queensland [2017] FCA 830 (NCY #3 Determination) as shown on the map below. CYLC will facilitate the meeting.

The meeting will be held as follows:

Time: 5pm – 8pm
Venue: Injinoo Hall, 54 McDonnell Street, Injinoo, Queensland 4876

IIAC as the prescribed body corporate for the NCY #1 Determination and the NCY #3 Determination, and the CYLC lawyer and consultant assisting the Applicants in each of the NP Sea Claim and NEP Sea Claim will consult with the Gudang YadhaykenuAtambaya Native Title Group and if appropriate seek instructions about a proposed boundary resolution process that the Gudang YadhaykenuAtambaya Native Title Group may consider undertaking to resolve its common boundaries with neighbours (being Gudang Yadheykenu and Ankamuthi Peoples) within the NCY #1 Determination Area and the NCY #3 Determination Area.

CYLC will also facilitate (on 9 and 15 July 2024) separate meetings with the Gudang Yadhaykenu Native Title Group and the Ankamuthi Native Title Group to discuss the above.

Who is invited to attend these meeting?

The meeting is open to those Aboriginal people who are descendants by birth or adoption, in accordance with the traditional laws acknowledged and traditional customs observed by the Atambaya Native Title Group, from one or more of the following apical ancestors:

    8. Wargo (father of Kitty McDonnell, Jacko and Frank Doyle)
    9. Epiden & Eteman (parents of Doris Harry)
    10. Kaio
    11. Samba Wooleye (father of Simon and Sarah Peter)
    12. Aitapu aka Atapu/Oitutu (spouse of Jack Wantanu McDonnell and Atunmer/Atunmu)
    13. Atunmer aka Atunmu (spouse of Aitapu aka Atapu/Oitutu)
    14. Jack Wantanu McDonnell (spouse of Aitapu aka Atapu/Oitutu)
