Native Title Representation

CYLC’s Native Title Unit (NTU) delivers legal and anthropological services in support of traditional owners in Cape York. The NTU also works to achieve land tenure outcomes and Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUAs) registered as part of the State Land Dealings (SLD) and national park transfer programs.

Our NTU consists of a Principal Legal Officer (PLO), Deputy Principal Legal Officer (DPLO), 3 Senior Legal Officers, 2 Legal Officers and 1 Policy Officer. The legal team is supported by a Senior Legal Secretary and 6 administrative support staff including the Personal Assistant to the PLO.

Senior Legal Officers and Legal Officers are allocated to specific teams within the Native Title Unit. These teams are:

•    Claims

•    State Land Dealings

•    Future Acts, Mining and Exploration

•    Policy
